Therapeutic Approach
I am passionate about supporting children and teens as they navigate emotional, behavioral, social, and developmental challenges in ways that honor who they are as individuals. As a Registered Play Therapist™, Certified AutPlay® Provider, and EMDR-trained therapist, I tailor each client’s therapeutic experience to meet their unique needs, strengths, interests, and goals. My approach is neuroaffirming and strengths-based, meaning I focus on helping clients better understand themselves while building on the abilities and qualities they already possess. I believe therapy should feel safe, supportive, and collaborative—not focused on “fixing” who someone is. I work closely with children, teens, and families to create supportive environments, foster felt safety, and build understanding.
Using play therapy, I help younger clients express emotions, process experiences, and develop coping skills in developmentally appropriate ways. Through AutPlay®, I integrate neurodiversity-affirming strategies designed specifically for autistic and neurodivergent children and teens, while also supporting emotional regulation, social connection, and self-advocacy. EMDR therapy allows me to help clients process difficult experiences, anxiety, trauma, and overwhelming emotions in a way that promotes healing and resilience. Because every child and teen is different, I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I adapt sessions to each client’s communication style, sensory needs, personality, and interests to create an environment where they feel understood, empowered, and supported in being fully themselves.
Outside the Office
In her free time, Madeline enjoys indulging in her special interests of reading fantasy books and listening to Taylor Swift music. She also has an ever-changing rotation of hyperfixations which include but aren't limited to puzzling, crocheting, listening to history/true crime podcasts and home decorating. She loves sharing about her current hyperfixation and/or her special interests as well as listening to others share about theirs. It gives lovely insights into who a person is and creates deep connections.
Testimonials
"We were getting calls from daycare almost daily about biting, hitting, and emotional outbursts, and we felt completely overwhelmed and unsure how to help our child. After working with Madeline, we started seeing such a big change not only in behavior, but in our child’s ability to communicate feelings and calm down. Daycare became less stressful for everyone, and our child now seems happier, more confident, and more understood."

"Before starting counseling, it felt like we were constantly walking on eggshells with our teen and every conversation turned into conflict or shutdowns. Over time, we started noticing more communication, fewer emotional blowups, and a level of confidence in our teen that we hadn’t seen in years. Counseling helped not only our teen, but our entire family dynamic."
