Therapeutic Approach
Holistic & Integrative

Katie believes that no two clients are alike, which is why she takes a holistic and integrative approach to therapy. Rather than relying on a single counseling method, she thoughtfully combines a variety of evidence-based approaches to meet each client's unique needs, strengths, and goals. Katie views healing and growth through a whole-person lens, recognizing the important connection between thoughts, emotions, relationships, experiences, and daily life.
Her approach is flexible and individualized, drawing from modalities such as play therapy, EMDR, cognitive-behavioral strategies, and other developmentally appropriate interventions. For children, this may mean weaving EMDR techniques into play-based activities to help process difficult experiences in a way that feels safe and natural. By blending different therapeutic tools, Katie helps clients build insight, develop practical skills, and work through challenges in a way that feels meaningful and effective.
Neurodiversity-Affirming
Katie takes a neurodiversity-affirming approach that recognizes and respects the unique ways each person thinks, learns, and experiences the world. She believes meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, connection, and genuine understanding. At the same time, Katie understands that insight alone is not always enough, which is why she incorporates practical skill-building into her work. By blending relationship-focused therapy with evidence-based strategies and tools, she helps clients develop emotional regulation, coping, social, and executive functioning skills while honoring their individual strengths and differences.
Play & Connection
Recognizing that play is the natural language of children, Katie uses a playful, warm-hearted approach to build trust and safety. This foundation allows for deeper exploration of emotions and the development of meaningful coping strategies for adolescents and parents alike.
Client Testimonials
"Our child had always struggled to open up and connect with others, so we were unsure how therapy would even work. Through play therapy, Katie created a space where our child felt comfortable being themselves, and we slowly started seeing improvements in communication and confidence at home and school. It truly felt like someone finally understood our child."
Parent of 10 year old Client
"Katie connected with our teen in a way that felt genuine and safe from the very beginning. Over time, our child learned healthier ways to express anger, sadness, and overwhelm instead of keeping everything bottled up inside, and we have seen such a positive change in them. For the first time in a long time, we feel hopeful again"
